William Harris, Jr. papers 1914-1934

Collection consists of approximately 13,000 vouchers, 1914-1934 concerning Harris' investments and theatrical expenses during his most active years in the theatre. Many of the vouchers have bills, accounts, or statements attached to them. There is a seperate card index to the names on these vouchers. Also, there are about 3,000 vouchers, 1920-1928, relating to Mrs. Henry B. Harris and a few for Henry B. Harris and Howard Schnebbe.

William Harris, Jr. (1884-1946) entered the family theater business in 1912 upon the death of his older brother Henry B. Harris (1866-1912). Until his retirement in 1939, William Harris, Jr. managed New York City theaters, produced plays on Broadway, and organized road companies of his most successful stage efforts.
